About DocsAgainstDonorDisparities

We are a group of high school students who are committed to promoting diversity in organ donors and recipients. We believe that everyone should have equal access to life-saving organ transplants, regardless of their race, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status. We as a group, work to educate the public about the importance of organ donation and to raise awareness about the disparities that currently exist in the organ transplant system. We advocate for policy changes that will help to ensure that organ donors and recipients are more representative of the population as a whole. Through our efforts, DocsAgainstDonorDisparities hopes to make a positive impact on the lives of those who are waiting for a transplant and to help create a more equitable and just society

Ansha Gupta

Hello! I’m Ansha Gupta and I’m a sophmore at Enloe Highschool and I have been a part of this initiative for 6 months. I was enlightened about this from my health science teacher in freshman year when she told my class about donor disparities. This issue made me very curious so it led me to use my curiosity to start this initiative alongside three of my friends. I hope to educate many diverse audience and make an impact in my community.

Niharika Koppolu

Hi! I'm Niharika and I'm a Sophomore at Enloe High School. I love to draw, play music, and drink boba! I've always known about organ donation, as several people in my family were donors and recipients. However, it wasn't until I learned about the discrepancies that my family members through their processes that I became aware of how flawed the organ donation system was for P.O.C. This inspired me to take initiative with my friends and spread awareness about the disparities in organ donation. I am looking forward to the change my group and I will bring!

Navya Brinda

Hello! I’m Navya Brinda, a sophomore at Enloe High School. The concept of organ donation has always intrigued me, however, after watching the movie John Q, my eyes were further opened up to some of the issues that individuals face when trying to receive or donate organs. It made me want to do more research, and what I found ultimately led up to me being a part of this group. I hope the work we do will truly increase awareness and decrease the stigma surrounding organ donation!

Alexandria Shue

My name is Alexandria Shue and I am currently a Sophomore at Enloe High School. In my free time, I enjoy dancing all styles of dance and hangout with my friends. During my freshman year of high school, my health science class started covering disparities along the health care system. This also included donor disparities. I started to become interested on this topic and ended up starting a group with other students with the same interests. My group members and I decided to start an initiative to bring more awareness on donor disparities and to increase awareness among our community.

"One organ donor can save up to eight lives, be the reason someone continues to live, and give the gift of life to those in need. And one person who spreads awareness about organ donation can save many more."
